1827-1828

This series consists of files of the Domestic Claims Commission consisting of documentary evidence submitted by claimants in support of their claims. Most of the cases concern slave claims. The number of records for each claim is small and usually consists of depositions, letters, and other documents showing the number of slaves carried away by British forces, State and county where claim originated, and name, age, and value of slaves. Frequently there is a statement of whether the claim was allowed or rejected and amount of award, if any.
